Prototype Eye Appointment
Hi everyone! We hope you've been finding these updates enjoyable and informative. Today, we're getting into a very specific improvement we made to our figurine, to take it up a notch. So let's dive right in!
Let's start with the original solid eyes. These turned out really well, and I'm glad we at least got a set of each as prototypes. They looked great and worked well with our figurine, but the idea for glassy eyes came about quite early in the process. Since the eyes are an iconic part of the Dropout Bear, and in particular for our DND BEAR, we wanted to elevate their design. Unfortunately, the factory couldn't produce them, so we settled for these solid ones......at first. However, we worked with a specialized team to explore how we could make our improved version of the eyes a reality.
To start, they redesigned and simplified the shape of the eyes, keeping them fitted while removing their original 'pegs.' You can see close-up images of the original eyes (and pegs) in Updates 7 and 8 for comparison.
They then went ahead to make clear versions of these new reshaped eyes and tested them to make sure they still fit the head properly.
The decals were finally added, and overall, the eyes look much more impressive than the previous set. This makes the effort to upgrade them worthwhile.
Of course, there’s always something to fix or improve—this time, we found some printing and decal placement issues which you can see in the video above. But we'll deal with that in the next update. Till next week, stay safe!
