DONDA BEAR Update 7
Prototype In-hand Pictures
Hey everyone! For Update 7, we’re going to share our first in-hand photos along with our initial impressions of the prototype. We’ll highlight what we liked, discuss aspects we weren’t too fond of, and share what we plan to improve before production begins.
So we finally received the prototype and these are our first pictures. We're really happy with it so far, and we also got a cloth mask sample done. However, we're still undecided about the mask and are working to get the best fit and look possible.
The eyes turned out great, but we also want to see if there's a better way to connect them to the head. The prototype is made of a brittle material, so there isn't much wiggle room for how the pieces fit together. The few issues we have, would have to be resolved and improved in concept and can only be tried out during production.
We're also uncertain about the 'DONDA' on the chest. On one hand, we want to stay true to the source image, but the name carries a lot of significance, being both Ye's mom's name as well as the name of his company and album. If you have any thoughts on this, please let us know info@sectiontoyz.com
Here are close-ups of both the cap and boots. For the cap, we opted to print the B-logo instead of sculpting it, so that the cap mold could be used for other bears and their accessories in the future. The boots, however, are too unique and can only be used for this specific figure.
We've also included a closer look at the redesigned foam runners, even though this idea has now been benched. We modeled them after the infant versions of the real-life footwear because we felt they suited the bear better. It's hard to see in this picture, but we also added treads to the bottom of the shoes, to make them as close to the originals as possible.
