DONDA BEAR Update 5: Testing & Fixing

DONDA BEAR Update 5

Prototype Problem-solving

Hey guys! We hope you found our last update insightful. Today, we're excited to bring you Update 5. In this update, we’ll focus on the corrections and problem-solving steps we’ve taken during this prototype testing phase. Join us as we walk you through how we addressed the challenges and refined the design to ensure everything meets our standards.

As we mentioned in our last email, our figure had trouble standing, and we suspected it was a weight distribution issue since it leaned slightly forward. Initially, we planned to add weight to the boots to balance it out, but a thought to test the boots on one of our other bears, revealed the real issue. The problem was with the boots themselves—the soles weren’t sculpted properly and had an unintended curve, making them unstable.

With the issue figured out, we refined the boot sculpt to address the instability. We made the treads and soles flatter, thicker, and more stable, giving the bear prototype a solid foundation. After making these adjustments, the updated boots were made and tested on both the prototype and a production bear and both were able to stand without any further issues.

While we focused on the boots, the factory concentrated on improving the eyes. They added a circular plug-fit, which finally allowed the eyes to be easily swapped out. Once all the issues were resolved, the prototype pieces were primed, painted, and prepared for assembly. Next week, we'll reveal how all the parts finally come together. Stay tuned!
