DONDA BEAR Update 16
Boxes & Blisters
Hi everyone! Welcome to Update 16! While we’re waiting for the factory to resolve the mold issue, we wanted to give you a look at the progress we’ve made on the packaging side. We’re excited to share these latest developments with you!
For the DONDA Bear, we’ve kept the design simple and aligned with the iconic era it represents. We moved away from our previous “Adidas/Yeezy”-inspired packaging—not only due to the Ye-Adidas split but also because this Bear symbolizes a different phase in Ye’s creative journey. To reflect that, we crafted packaging inspired by the aesthetics of the DONDA era, creating something that truly suits this figure’s unique design. Plus, with its taller build, distinct shape, and expanded set of accessories, the Bear needed a new box with customized dimensions to fit it perfectly.
Here’s a look at the mock-up for the DONDA Bear’s packaging design. The box features a display window on the front, giving you the option to showcase your figure without having to remove it from the packaging. The figure’s accessories are also cleverly hidden behind the front panel on the left, preserving the clean look of the display.
The packaging design is directly inspired by the bulletproof vest Ye wore at the second DONDA listening event. Since the figure itself draws heavily from Ye's look during that performance, we felt it was fitting to incorporate one of the few official depictions of the “DONDA” text from the same event.
The font might look simple enough but we put significant effort into replicating the text style on the vest. We had to adapt and match the font we ended up using to the reference text on the vest, since we couldn't find the exact font.
Here we have the initial samples for both the box and the blister packaging. The design for the blister has been approved, but we still need to make a few minor adjustments to the box measurements to ensure everything fits perfectly. For one, we'll be making the window narrower to hide the accessories on the side better. Overall, progress is moving along smoothly!
