DONDA BEAR Update 14: Making the Mold

DONDA BEAR Update 14

Cast in Vinyl

Hey everyone! We’ve officially moved into the production stage! From here on out, the focus is all about execution, so the upcoming updates will primarily cover the process of bringing the K/Bear to life. However, we’ll be sure to include any key details or interesting thoughts that pop up along the way.

We’re excited to share that the molds have been finalized, and a test sample was created to make sure everything meets our standards. This plain test figure, made of vinyl, stands at almost 8 inches tall. The swappable eyes, removable Balenciaga-inspired boots, and cap are crafted from PVC—a more rigid material that helps retain the shape and intricate details of the smaller components.

Here’s a quick video at the base body for the K/Bear! The original model body was segmented into four parts—two hands, the torso, and the legs—giving us more precision during the production process, with added flexibility and ease when painting. This design choice allows for smoother mold creation and better assembly later on.

To give you a clearer idea of where we’re at, we’ve also included turnaround images of the unpainted cast. While this is just a raw version, seeing it in 360 degrees really highlights the shape and structure of the figure. Stay tuned for the next steps as we bring this figure closer to completion!
