DONDA BEAR Update 11
Masking Perfection
Hi everyone! We still have a lot ahead of us, and we’re grateful that you're taking the time to join us on this journey. So let's get back to our regularly scheduled programming and get right into Update 11!
This week's update is all about perfecting the DONDA mask. To start, here are the first two samples that were made. The first one was a closer to mask reference we sent and had less seams. The second one came with a snout, which the factory tried out to accommodate the bear's nose—but we weren’t fans of it at all. Overall, the masks felt too loose, and we didn’t like the scrunched-up neckline either. Funny enough, the version you've seen in all the K/Bear: DONDA mask videos so far is the one we chose from this batch!
After that, we worked on improving the mask, but we still weren't completely satisfied with the fabric choices. Additionally, testing the samples on the full bear figure made it quite difficult to gauge how the mask would fit on the final DONDA version. We realized we needed a better approach to see how the mask would complement the new figure and meet our expectations before moving forward.
So, we decided to set aside the body and use only the head. We focused on testing different materials for the mask. One of the new materials we tried was much closer to what we envisioned. The fit was noticeably tighter, which we liked, but we felt the fabric was a bit too transparent. As for the hole in the mask, that was actually an intentional choice by the factory—perhaps they thought the bear needed to breathe!
And here we have our latest sample, which is very very close to what we’ve been aiming for. While it looks almost perfect, we’ll need to get it in hand to see if any further adjustments are necessary. Only then will we know if this version needs any final tweaks to make sure it meets our standards before moving into production.
